Printmaking Process • Voodoo Catbox

Part 1 : Illustration

Part 2 : Color Separations

Part 3 : Preparing Screens

Part 4 : Printing

We broke this down into 4 segments. The 1st of which covers the initial concept sketch and transforming that drawing into a scratchboard illustration, which will be the focus of the print. Next, we watch Gary cut rubylith separations for each color used during the printing process. From there, Gary takes us through washing, coating and burning screens. And for his final trick, Gary gives viewers a turn at watching him print posters. Thanks for watching!

Hope y'all are keeping well and hanging in there. Like a lot of others, we've seen jobs & events we take for granted go by the wayside in 2020. So, in order to keep busy and stay focused, we figured it might be a good idea to be constructive and make some prints having to do with political or social issues. We also thought it would be nice to document the process of making a screen print and allow you all into a day in my life as a silkscreen printer! -GH
